"He Dresses Up As A French Maid"
MONTH END HUMILIATION ANGUISH
Can you help?
An accounting colleague wants me to dominate him when we do month end but I'm not comfortable with it.
I'm 28 and he's 44 and we started working together a few months ago.
Things seemed to be going okay until last month.
Out of the blue he insisted on dressing up as a French maid and being ordered to do menial accounting tasks such as filing, photocopying and signing cheques..
That wasn't a problem for me as we had quite a backlog to catch up on. But now he's asked if I can abuse him verbally and physically, suggesting I accuse him of not being fully-qualified, spank him repeatedly with the Month End Reconciliations file and refuse to sign off his journals.
I just don't think I can do it.
What should I do? It's as though he just wants to feel small, humiliated and worthless.

And so he should! Sounds like a right nutter.
Sometimes bad experiences early on in an accounting career can lead to an overpowering need to be punished later on.
But that's no excuse. So go on, let him have it!
If he still insists, I suggest he tries my Advice Line:‘Feeling Small, Humiliated and Worthless? - It's What You Deserve’.
